Plot

Flooded castle
Fflewddur Fflam warned the Companions that Magg, responding to Achren's scorn, had opened the sea gates which protected Caer Colur, and embarked with his guardsmen on the only ship. The sea poured into the ruins; the rowboat was shattered; Taran was swept away clutching at Princess Eilonwy's limp body, and lost consciousness in the flood.
Chief Steward

Taran awoke to discover that all his friends had reached the shallows alive, and that Llyan, who as it turned out was quite fond of Fflewddur, had pulled them all up on the shore. Eilonwy too survived, but lay unconscious, perhaps damaged by the spells of the Book of Llyr as it burned. Gwydion prevented Achren from killing herself, then gently persuaded the former sorceress to accompany the group to Caer Dallben, where Dallben would take her in. Eilonwy stirred.
